Drone, Video and Camera
Drone survey is done using DJI Phantom IV unmanned aerial vehicle on monthly basis. The drone survey commenced in 2018 on about 2.8 km on the beach of Dzita. However, in 2022 and 2023, we have made longer flights of about 10 km from Fuveme to Dzita to gather larger topographic information. Drone flights are done at an altitude of 100 m and georeferenced to the Ghana Meter Grid with GCPs collected on site. Between 2018 and 2021, two video cameras were installed along the coast of Ghana; one at Dzita and the other at Elmina. These cameras recorded three forms of images at 15 minutes interval including time exposure (timex), time stacked and snap shots. We use these images to study the cross-shore changes in the Shoreline position and wave climate at these beaches.
